On Saturday, March 4th Grace Community Food Pantry hosted their Second Annual Walk For Food at the Flagler Palm Coast High School stadium. This walk was held to raise money and collect canned goods for the citizens of Flagler County who are in need.
This event started at 10 a.m., where they introduced the walk and the reason behind creating it. The introduction also included an award to the school or group who raised the most money and canned food items. The winner of this was the group from Indian Trails Middle School. Their group received a trophy and the recognition that they deserved for helping in such an awesome way.
Since there were many other groups who gathered at this event to walk, many participants represented themselves with banners and signs. This walk also included a raffle, where walkers could enter to win prizes such as a T.V. and gift cards.
Mrs. Corinne Schaefer, an i3 Academy teacher who created a group for the walk, said, “It was an important event that helped raised funds and gather necessary items for an essential part of Flagler County. I am proud that i3 Academy was part of such an important event.”
This event ended up having a wonderful turn out for such an amazing cause, so make sure to keep up to date for next year’s walk. For more information about Grace Community Food Pantry, and how you can help, visit their website.
