Wadsworth Elementary School (WES) is hosting a K-Kids car wash fundraiser on March 1st from 3:00pm-6:00pm in the WES bus loop off of Belle Terre Parkway. The money received from this fundraiser will go towards the care of therapy horses at Flagler’s local Whispering Meadows Ranch that assists children with disabilities.
Mrs. Valerie Sanson runs the Kiwanis K-Kids Club at WES. It is a service learning club for fourth and fifth grade students. The WES K-Kids group has invited all Kiwanian groups including K-Kids from elementary schools, Builders Clubs from middle schools, and Key Clubs from high schools to join this community service project, which they decided to call “Hay for a Day”. Any other Flagler County School groups are welcome to volunteer with them, they just have to email Mrs. Sanson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Our kids of all ages agree that it is a worthwhile effort and very rewarding to be able to help other children with special needs […] K-Kids wanted to raise awareness for the needs at the ranch, so a car wash with an invitation for others to join in seemed like a perfect plan of action,” Mrs. Sanson said.
Whispering Meadows Ranch is a non-profit organization in Flagler Beach that is all volunteer based. They have many recreational, educational and horse assisted therapy programs that are ranch related. By visiting their website, you will have the opportunity to help out this wonderful and family friendly place by donating and volunteering!
