FPC Girls Lacrosse Focusing on Fundamentals in 2017 Season

girls-laxThe FPC girls lacrosse team has been filled with new freshman, sophomores, and returning players as they start their 2017 season. The girls have played four games against Nease, Bucholz, Atlantic Coast, and St. Augustine high school; with a record of 0-4. Coach Katie Kastner wants to focus more on teaching her players the fundamentals.

Coach Katie’s goal this season is, “To put a winning team on the field as much as girls-lax-1possible, and of course to make it to districts.”

Since the girls lacrosse team is comprised of mostly new players, Coach Katie said, “I try to incorporate a lot of different exercises so it’s not the same, and expose them to multiple things. The more you prepare the better you’ll be.”

One of the team captains, sophomore Marianne Trecki, said, “I feel like we’ve gotten better and that we’ve grown more as a team.”

girls-lax-2Another team captain, junior Caitlin Clarke, said, “Well I think that since we our a new team, we need to improve basic skills, and develop new ones.”

The final team captain, sophomore Moriah Duprat, said, “This year we believe more in each other, and we can learn together.”
