The Kathy Boos Foundation was started after Friday, March 11th, 2016 when Kathy Boos and her brother-in-law Carl Boos were the victims of a fatal drunk driving accident in Flagler County. The people of the foundation hope to educate people, focusing on high school students, about drunk driving and the affects that come with it.
The people in the foundation set up booths at events around the county to speak to the public and their next scheduled event is the Flagler County Seafood Festival on March 11th. They plan on attending local universities and schools to have seminars educating students about drunk driving. If interested in donating or attending any of their booths and seminars, go to the Kathy Boos Foundation
website. Brian Genk, a board member of the foundation stated, “If we save one life through the Kathy Boos Foundation I consider that an amazing success!”
After the accident Kathy’s husband Bob Boos and son Mark Boos created the foundation. Board member Greg Feldman explained, “The foundation’s goal is to create educational programs for youth to heighten awareness of impaired driving and maybe, just maybe, they would use that awareness to deter their parents from dangerous driving habits.” They have done research on statistics for drunk driving and want to educate the young drivers today of how important it is to not drive while being intoxicated. If you wish to learn more about the foundation or donate to help them spread awareness visit their website, Facebook page, or call them.
