Q&A Interview with FPC’s Soccer Team Captain: Ramtin Amiri

Ramtin Amiri

The FPC Boys Soccer team has recently started practicing, but how are they preparing themselves for the 2016-2017 season? Team captain and FPC senior, Ramtin Amiri, tells us about his pregame routine and the secret behind their cohesive teamwork.

How do you get yourself ready for a game?

Hanging out with my teammates, eating a pregame meal, and listening to music is the way I get myself prepared. Sometimes a little light kick around is part of that too.

Do you have any traditions or things you do before a game?

Not really, I just go and play.

What drives you to get out on the field and play?

I’ve been playing soccer for 14 years, anytime I get to play I’m happy. At school you just want the day to be over so you can get on the field, and wanting the sport to take you somewhere in life is a big drive in itself.

How do you keep yourself motivated during a game?

Just being able to play the sport I love is motivation enough, and I have to stay motivated as a leader to be able to lead my team.

Do you hang out with certain people the day before?

I hang out with all my teammates the day before. Team bonding is an important part of a team and every single player involved. It can be anything from a team dinner to a light kick around, anything that brings us closer together.

How do you get your team prepared for a game?

Being a captain is a big part of a team, motivating my teammates to play is necessary as well as making sure our warm up and game prep is perfect in every way.

Do you do anything after the game as a team (e.g. going out to eat)?

We go out to eat a lot after games, especially on games where we play away, but we take any chance to be with our teammates regardless of the place and time.

Do you eat a certain food before games or practice?

Usually a sub with a smoothie is my meal before the game. Something that will give me energy to play, but not too heavy to where I can’t play my best.
