Easy Replacement Foods For Thanksgiving: Vegetarians and Those with Peanut Allergies

If you are vegetarian or allergic to peanuts here are some great options for an alternative meal or dessert during this Thanksgiving.

Vegetarian: Mac & Cheese Casserole

Supplies you will need:

Pasta noodles

2 cups each shredded or block cheese (Cheddar, Swiss, Velveeta. etc.)





  1. Boil noodles for 10-15 minutes
  2. Sprinkle in desired amount of salt and pepper
  3. Add in one type of cheese and stir until well melted
  4. Repeat step 3 for other cheese types
  5. Add in half a cup of milk and stir
  6. Let mixture cook on stovetop for 5-8 minutes
  7. Set oven to 350 degrees
  8. Sprinkle more cheese and breadcrumbs then place in oven for 25 minutes.

If you would rather buy an easy meal to eat you can buy, Gardein lightly breaded turk’y cutlets. This option is 100% meat free, but does contain gluten.


Peanut Allergies: Peppermint Bark

Supplies you will need:

White chocolate chips

Semi-sweet chocolate chips


Milk (Optional)


  1. Place peppermints in closed bag and crush to little pieces.
  2. Pour semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 30 seconds, mix and microwave for 20 more seconds or until melted (Keep an eye on chocolate).
  3. Pour melted chocolate into pan (On top of wax paper if you prefer that) and spread evenly.
  4. Repeat step two for white chocolate chips
  5. Pour white melted chocolate on top of semi-sweet melted chocolate and spread evenly across pan, be careful to not mix the two chocolates.
  6. Lastly, spread crushed peppermints on top of chocolate then place in freezer.
